Video - Officials warn of dangers in auto collisions before July 4th

Fourth of July is tomorrow and we are about a month into the 100 Deadliest Days (the days between Memorial Day and Labor Day) behind the wheel for teens and young adults. With the legalization of recreational cannabis and national data showing drugged driving on the rise, summer is a critical time to discuss the dangers of impaired driving of any kind and to enhance efforts to reduce impaired-driver arrests, traffic collisions and fatalities.

The California Department of Insurance, CHP, Ford, AAA, PCIAA, and III are continuing its 100 Deadliest Days statewide safety campaign with an experience in impaired driving as young drivers suit up in Ford Motor Company's Drugged Driving Suit, which simulates being under the influence of marijuana, and attempt driving on a controlled course. Leaders in law enforcement, insurance and safety will be on hand to discuss the effects of impairment on a driver's ability to operate a vehicle safely and the consequences for drivers arrested for impaired driving.
